EFFECT OF ICT IN MODERN CIVIL ENGINEERING

EFFECT OF ICT IN MODERN CIVIL ENGINEERING

ABSTRACT

The delivery of instruction in higher education will be impacted by the creation of robust and cost-effective microcomputers and computer software. This is particularly true for civil engineering education, as the computer is now recognized as a valuable tool for analysis and design in the field. In this paper, the authors discuss their experiences incorporating computers into several civil engineering courses as well as how they are used as tools in the classroom.

CHAPTER ONE

BACKGROUND OF STUDY

INTRODUCTION- EFFECT OF ICT IN MODERN CIVIL ENGINEERING

The delivery of instruction in higher education is beginning to alter as a result of the quick development of computer technologies, which now include reliable, user-friendly software and powerful, reasonably priced microcomputers. The ability of pupils to conduct computations and handle massive amounts of data has significantly expanded thanks to computers. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the computer in the teaching-learning process, it may be necessary to adapt or modify the types and natures of the mathematical concepts and problems that are taught in schools. The computer has begun to be acknowledged as a useful and significant instrument in civil engineering analysis and design, making this a particularly critical time for civil engineering education. How can the use of computers be incorporated into the curriculum? How could we raise students’ knowledge of the significance of computers in the many civil engineering challenges that need to be solved? Some of the questions that will be covered in this project report are those mentioned above. [Oreta 2011].

Buildings, bridges, transportation systems, water and wastewater management, and other infrastructure important to society’s well-being are the primary areas of concentration for the civil engineering profession. It is essentially impossible to avoid using computer technology in almost every element of civil engineering. In order to minimize trial-and-error approaches when constructing physically sound design and analysis, this application of computers in civil engineering goes beyond the standard black-box application and necessitates the engineers to be knowledgeable and coherent users.

AIM AND OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY – EFFECT OF ICT IN MODERN CIVIL ENGINEERING

The project’s objectives are to discuss the various and specific uses of computers, to offer a venue for the study of the acquisition of technical know-how and skills in using computers in civil engineering, and to be able to understand how computers are used to solve problems in the planning of civil engineering projects.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY- EFFECT OF ICT IN MODERN CIVIL ENGINEERING

The focus of this research is on the idea of computer utilization in civil engineering. It involves using computer applications in a variety of ways to improve civil engineering work.

LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT- EFFECT OF ICT IN MODERN CIVIL ENGINEERING

It was difficult for us to obtain information pertinent to this research during the project’s duration due to several limitations. The project work was a demanding effort that required plenty of time and dedication, but since we are combining the write-up, it has become somewhat simpler to complete on the basis of the project’s activity duration.
